I was cheated and humiliated by eBay!
Summary: A participant expressed frustration over being deceived and humiliated by an experience on eBay, prompting several responses from others. The discussion seems to focus on the challenges and negative experiences encountered by users on the platform.
I’m terribly disappointed with the site’s policy!
I sold an item abroad, and sent it immediately by registered priority mail with proof of delivery. The buyer opened a case with me, claiming that he had not received the item. I quickly went to the post office to file a complaint; the lady at the counter informed me that the complaint could take as long as three months because it is an international shipment. After I got home, I sent the required documents.
1. Shipment tracking number.
2. Scan of the proof of postage.
3. Scan confirming that the complaint was filed.
4. Scan of the complaint form.
Since the case was opened on the UK site, I first wrote to them.
I got a reply from the post office after more than a month. Of course, with confirmation that the shipment had been received by the buyer on that date. So I sent the scan to the UK site; I got a reply very quickly. That everything checked out and that the appropriate department would handle it. And I would get a reply on the 14th (so in a week). I wait a week, two, nothing. So I wrote again! I was asked to be patient. I wait another two weeks and nothing, so I wrote again and silence. I wrote several more times, unfortunately without any response.
I started writing through ebay.pl and the same thing happened again. For almost two months, every week they replied that they were asking for patience. When I couldn’t take it anymore and wrote them a few uncensored words, I got a reply that the case had been closed over a month ago!
Of course I wasn’t counting on a cash refund. Naively, I was counting on some deduction of that money from the seller’s balance, or at least some response that the buyer fraudster had been punished in some way. Unfortunately, they blew me off! And I lost the money and the item.
Recently the same thing happened again with another buyer. I refunded him the money immediately. It’s not worth the hassle; after all, they’ll treat me like a thief anyway. Although I’m already down over 100 zł.
I’m curious whether anyone has had similar cases?

·2 years agoHello. You're not the first and not the last. I stopped selling here about 12 years ago precisely because of this kind of situation, and I see that nothing has changed after all these years. You lost 100 PLN and I lost over 1,000 euros because of scammers, eBay, and PayPal, who help them do it. To this day I have screenshots of everything, the battle with eBay, fake buyers, and PayPal, which blocks the money and refunds buyers without looking into who is right. Photos, copies of emails with buyers, and videos didn't help. I sold both in Poland and abroad; with Poland it's crap, they treat us like the third world and suckers.
If it weren't for that, that lousy eBay would lose 50% of private sellers

·7 years agoThe buyer allegedly received a defective product.
At his request and on eBay's recommendation, I sent the money for the refund from the product amount to PayPal; after information from eBay that he should send the shipping costs by a separate transfer, I am sending it again.
Despite the fact that the buyer received the refund money, he delayed and allegedly did not send the damaged product,
even after information from eBay that the complained-about product should be returned, the buyer again did not return the product to us.
Additionally, the buyer does not want to refund the shipping costs of 15.04 GBP, which is a crime.
After that, eBay returns the full purchase amount with shipping to the buyer.
Now the buyer has the money, the product, and additionally 15.04 GBP

·5 years agoI’ll tell you about an even better situation - I send an item to the USA, the buyer opens a return and writes to me directly in a message that he’ll send me an empty box, but eBay refunds him the money. The buyer mocks me, and eBay doesn’t pay any attention to it. I send dozens of messages to eBay asking them to check the buyer’s correspondence, and they brush me off and don’t reply to me at all because that’s best for them. They took 1000 PLN from me and that’s it. People, I warn you about this thieving service !!!!!
The best thing is one of the messages I saw somewhere on their site, it said something like this - that sellers should take care of buyers and refund the money if buyers want it, after all sellers can just count that into their business costs

·2 years agoI believe you; I had similar situations. Returned empty box, box with newspapers, with some trash. Even videos of opening the package and showing its contents didn't help. I sent a barometer and received newspapers hahahaha

·2 years agoThis has been a known method for years. You just have to be lucky. However, there are "buyers" who make money off this scheme because they get goods for free, which they later resell. This is something for TV, but no one does anything about it; it's the same on allepadalcu with commissions of around 20%, where sellers have to put money into the business just to exist instead of fighting this usury

·13 years agoPeople, get a grip,
1 primo, you don't send items by economy mail outside Europe because it's obvious it will take longer than the buyer's patience lasts, and then it's a fail
2. The seller has to make sure of everything and if the goods didn't arrive, it's his problem, which is logical after all.
3. I wish the esteemed previous speaker more patience. eBay is a buyer's service, unlike Allegro, where the other side rules.
Cheers

·2 years agoAllegro is the same kind of crap!
A pathetic monopolist who ignores the people who support it and pretends to be a "store"!

·2 years agoThey are guilty because they agree to it. It would be enough to publicize everything in the media, a strike like that, and then maybe something would change. Few people know what’s going on here and there because they don’t look into it or read. I’ve been on allepadalcu for over 20 years and I’ve seen it all, ever since they introduced faulty-item sales the sale went downhill. I have screenshots of scandals from those years on allepadalcu, when the ones who introduced faulty-item sales set up accounts and sold their own goods, blocking the sale of others with the same assortment. Allepadalec only extorts money; they hide auctions, forcing the naive to buy expensive paid options
