Buying from the States and make offer
Summary: The discussion involves kamkupl-0 and marek101 concerning purchasing items from the United States and making offers. However, the specific details of their conversation were not provided.
Good morning, I’m buying something through eBay for the first time. I made an offer to the seller at a lower price and after 3 minutes I received an invoice from eBay to pay for the order. Does that mean the item is already mine, or only after I pay will the seller accept or reject my offer, and the money will be hanging in the air? My second question is whether it’s better to pay with PayPal (I already have dollars in my account) or with Revolut (also with dollars). The item is used and from the USA, so will customs duty apply because of that? (The item costs $150). Should I expect any additional costs after paying for the order including shipping?

·2 years agoThe item is yours. After payment, the seller will send it. The seller will not reject the offer because they accepted it, which is why you received the invoice to pay.
It's better to pay through Paypal and by card. If there are any problems, Paypal and the card will be on your side. Revolut is only an intermediary transferring the money, and any dispute with the seller will not cause any response from that side.
eBay protection will refund your money if the item does not arrive within the expected time or is not as described. You just have to open a dispute.
There is no customs duty up to 150 euros, and even if there is, it is small. VAT may be charged. eBay will add VAT for you, but they may charge it again at the border. If you receive an invoice from customs, pay it and present it to eBay. Then eBay will refund what it collected as tax. There is no problem with that.
