Hello. I’ve been sending parcels to Poland with Hermes for a long time now and so far I haven’t had any problems. The parcel is delivered in Poland by a friend who works as a DPD courier. He knows where he can leave it when nobody is home. Hermes DHL or DPD?? The delivery of a shipment depends only on the courier, who can be an idiot or an employee who wants to do his job well. It’s a matter of culture and attitude toward people and work.
Personally, I’ve been working in Germany for a few years as a Hermes courier, which is why I know it from the inside. There are deficient **bleep**s in every trade, so you can’t lump everyone together. Most delivery drivers have fixed areas, so we know the people. As for hired people... warehouse workers, of course, but drivers are taken on only on contract (probationary and ultimately permanent), which is also protection for the company. Someone has to pay for any possible 'lost items'.
Either way, the job is hard, but contact with people who greet you, ask about your family or tell you about their loved ones and leave tips makes it worth being a normal human being 😉
