Canceling order

So after paying for my order on 6th of November I've received tha shipping number from DHL on 8th of November.

On 16th of November I go the message from the seller, that my item got lost on the way to the airport, they were out of stock and so they want to cancel the transaction.

Also on 16th of November, the seller started a case to cancel my order because "I've changed my mind/I've bought the product by mistake".

I haven't agreed to it, as eBay advised me to, declined the case and wrote to the seller to refund the sum of money I paid so we can cancel the transaction.

Is there anything else I can do to ensure that I won't get scammed?
