The wipers need to be replaced because they leave streaks and squeak terribly. How much do decent wipers cost roughly, and how often should they be replaced? I have a 2016 Ford Focus.

As a rule, it’s recommended to replace them every 6–12 months depending on how heavily they’re used, but if you see streaks or hear them squeaking, that’s a sign it’s time. Prices vary a lot — the cheapest set can be bought for 30–40 złotych, but their quality is often questionable; it’s better to pay 60–100 złotych for a proven brand like Bosch, Valeo or HQ Automotive that will last longer. There are three main types of wipers — conventional frame-style (the cheapest, classic ones), flat (more modern, aerodynamic) and hybrid (combining the advantages of both). For the Focus, I recommend flat or hybrid ones because they adhere to the windshield better and are quieter in operation. It’s important to check the blade length because different models have different dimensions; usually the left and right wipers are different lengths. Installation is simple — most wipers come with universal adapters and can be swapped in a few minutes without tools.
