Steel or ceramic chimney flue for a fireplace?
I'm building a house and planning a fireplace, a classic one with glass. I'm now looking for information on what kind of chimney would work best for that. I've come across opinions that ceramic ones are better, but on the other hand quite a few people recommend steel chimney systems. Could someone explain the difference and what it's worth paying attention to?

Ceramic chimneys are more resistant to high temperatures and moisture, but on the other hand steel systems have their advantages, especially when it comes to installation and the weight of the whole structure. Steel is easier to install and can be fitted into more difficult places, e.g. when modernizing older buildings.
