Access panel in a suspended ceiling
I have a question because I installed an access panel in the suspended ceiling and after a few weeks it started to come unstuck. I used regular drywall glue. What did I do wrong?

·8 months agoThe problem is probably that the ceiling works differently than the wall, and regular glue may not hold. The access doors in the ceiling should be mechanically fastened to the load-bearing structure with profiles, not just glued. You need proper reinforcement around the inspection opening so the whole structure is stable. Glue is only an extra for sealing, not the main way of fastening. Also, check whether the access doors you bought are suitable for the ceiling, because not all models are meant for overhead installation. The weight of the doors also matters; the lighter they are, the better for the ceiling. I would dismantle what you have, reinforce the structure with additional profiles, and mount it with screws through the frame into the profiles. Only then would I do the filling and painting.
