Acoustic technical door
I manage an office building and we have a problem with the technical rooms; the generators and installations create noise that carries into the office spaces. Are acoustic technical doors enough of a solution, or do we need to do something more?

·4 months agoNoise from technical rooms is transmitted in two ways: through the air, meaning through doors and walls, and through the building structure, meaning through vibrations that travel through the foundations and walls to other rooms. Acoustic doors for technical rooms effectively reduce airborne noise transmission, and if that is the main transmission path in your building, then a really good pair of doors with a high Rw can make a big difference. However, if the machines generate strong mechanical vibrations, closing the doors alone is not enough and vibroacoustic isolation of the equipment itself is needed, meaning anti-vibration bases and flexible connections for the installations. For acoustic technical doors, their resistance to the conditions in the room is also important, humidity, temperature, and the fire resistance class if required by fire regulations. Technical doors often have to combine acoustic insulation with fire resistance.
