New item condition parameters for used clothing
Summary: pl_news_team started a discussion about new item condition parameters for used clothing, but did not provide any additional details or receive a response from other participants.
We fully recognize the benefits of buying and selling pre-owned clothing and the positive impact this has on the environment. To simplify the selling process and make it easier for buyers to decide to purchase pre-owned clothing, we are introducing new item condition parameters for listings with pre-owned clothing.
3 new item condition parameters to choose from
Until now, when listing pre-owned clothing, you could only choose the item condition parameter “Used”. From February 4, 2025, 3 parameters will be available: “Used: excellent”, “Used: good”, and “Used: fair”. The name of the currently available parameter “New with defect” will be changed to “New with imperfections”.
In the table below you’ll find detailed descriptions of the new parameters:
|
Used: |
Like new, the item has been worn before, with little or no signs of wear. The item has been worn before, but is in excellent condition. Any signs of wear should be shown and described in the sales listing. |
|
Used: |
Gently used item with light signs of wear or visible defects. The item has been gently used, but is in good condition. It may have signs of wear, but all imperfections should be shown and described in the sales listing. |
|
Used: |
Clearly visible defects, very visible signs of wear, or missing or damaged components. The item has clearly visible imperfections and signs of wear. All imperfections should be shown and described in the sales listing. |
You can find the full list of categories where the new item condition parameters will be available, along with more information about what can be considered defects, signs of wear, or imperfections, on the page Optimal descriptions of pre-owned clothing.
With the new parameters, you can describe more clearly to buyers the condition of what you’re selling, which will help reduce the likelihood of returns due to item condition issues.
Optimize your pre-owned clothing listings
From February 4 this year, you can add the updated item condition parameters to your new and active pre-owned clothing listings. A few important details:
- When we introduce the changes described here, in all your pre-owned clothing listings the item condition parameter “Used” will automatically be replaced with “Used: good”.
- Check whether your listings have the correct item condition parameter, and update it individually or in bulk if needed.
- If you manage listings through third-party tools, the new item condition parameters should be available there.
Get ready for these changes – check your listings and decide which item condition parameter will be best.
When we make the new item condition parameters available, update your listings as soon as possible. Accurate item condition descriptions are essential to minimize returns and ensure listings appear in the correct search results.
