Case collections for the law exam
I'm taking my civil law exam in a month and a friend says I should buy a casebook. I already have a textbook that I've worked through. I'm wondering whether a casebook really adds anything or if it's just the same material repeated in a different form and a waste of money.

A textbook teaches theory, case studies teach how to apply that theory to a specific factual situation, and that is exactly what the examiner checks. The difference between a student who knows the theory and one who can apply it is immediately visible on the exam. Especially in civil law, where there are plenty of nuances that only come up in practical cases.
