As a VAT payer, what should I do so sales are not taxed twice? Customs clearance for each shipment? VAT registration in the UK?

All these customs and tax issues are very complicated for me. For 3 weeks now I’ve been sitting there in the afternoons and evenings trying to understand something. I want to start a business and sell on eBay, among other places to the UK. The problem is that I’m running into a lot of conflicting information. Among other things, VAT. I want to sell books, which in the UK are taxed at 0%, and eBay will take 20% from the customer?? What about other goods, where by shipping outside the EU I may be exempt from paying VAT, and eBay will again take 20%?? After visiting a few accounting firms and a few accountants, I’m no wiser at all, because nobody has a clue about it. My dear people, please explain this issue to me.

·2 years agoMy dear people, I’ve just found the answer to my dilemmas, I finally landed on the right page. Now I just need to figure out the issue of selling to the USA and registration in each state 😄
