SELLERS CHEATED BY PAY PAL
Summary: The discussion revolves around sellers who feel deceived by PayPal, as indicated by the subject. However, the individual posts only contain the word 'None,' providing no further details or context on the issue discussed.
I feel cheated by PayPal, a company I trusted as a consumer! If I hadn’t decided, as a seller, to use PayPal’s services, I wouldn’t have lost almost 500zł!
PayPal is a portal that intermediates between the seller and the customer and supposedly safeguards the interests of BOTH parties. As it turns out, only in theory. Some time ago I sold my old watch through eBay. The transaction went through, the buyer left positive feedback and wrote a message saying the watch had arrived and thanking me very much for the cooperation.
After a few months I received a demand from PayPal to refund the payment for the watch I sold. The buyer changed his mind and now claimed that he had never received the watch... Of course the buyer did not reply to my messages. On his eBay account there was also the first negative feedback: "Beware. A fraudulent use of a credit card was used to buy this item. BEWARE." I already knew I had a problem, but I was hoping for a positive resolution - after all, I had been honest, and the customer wrote that he had received the item! I could not have been more wrong!
I sent PayPal all the correspondence with the buyer, along with an explanation of the whole matter. To my surprise, Pay Pal behaved as if it had received nothing. It still demanded (and still demands from me to this day) a refund for the watch! NOBODY from PayPal’s Polish branch responded to my emails, in which I appealed this decision. Although the delivery confirmation I received clearly said that the company would contact me within 24 hours - to this day I have received no reply, as if I did not exist at all. On the hotline, no one was able to give me any specific information. So far no one has replied to my message on PayPal’s official Facebook profile. "Give up and pay," the company’s employees seemed to be telling me.
I wanted to be honest and give the buyer the comfort of knowing his transaction was protected - because of that I lost the watch myself, lost the money, and was treated like an ordinary thief and liar. It’s not worth being honest; that’s what my cooperation with PayPal taught me. Want to make easy money? Buy something, pay through PayPal, and then pretend you never received the item. You’ll have the purchased item and the money. On PayPal, sellers are treated like thieves, and the real thieves get away completely scot-free.
I reported the case to the Police and to the European Consumer Centre. I intend to escalate the matter on social media and, since I’m professionally connected with television, bring the case to light in the media. I believe in justice and I won’t back down.
The European Consumer Centre also has collective claims proceedings. We can also jointly sue PayPal in court. We just need to find more dissatisfied sellers

·2 years agoHi,
I also have a problem with a dispute with eBay. Two years ago I sold a new original product to a customer from the USA. 3 weeks after receiving the package, he opened a dispute claiming that the product looked lighter in the photos than in real life, attaching fake photos. eBay told me to accept the return and pay the shipping costs. The buyer demanded $700 from me, even though the product was sold for $1300 with shipping included. Of course I didn’t agree, which ended with support awarding the buyer a refund. For the time being I removed the cards and the account, so they didn’t take money from the account, only a negative balance appeared. After some time they blocked the account on the site and sent warnings. A week ago they threatened debt collection.
What can I do about this? I’m afraid that if they hand the case over to a debt collection company from Poland, they will take the case to court and the court will issue an enforcement order and automatically take money from my account without my involvement.
Has the European Consumer Centre done anything about this?
