Excavator for a larger project
We’re gearing up with the crew for a bigger construction project, we’ll be doing foundations, some earthworks, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I’m looking for a solid excavator that can handle this kind of job. I’m wondering whether it’s better to go with something big, or something more versatile. Maybe someone can advise?

·1 year agoHi, for a bigger project it’s better to invest right away in something more versatile that can handle different tasks. Those typical crawler excavators are great for rougher terrain, but if it’s more “mixed” work, it’s worth considering a wheeled one, since it moves faster between spots. Take a look here: https://mojabudowa.pl/artykul/539_jak_dobrac_koparke_idealna_do_specyfiki_twojego_projektu.htm – they have a lot of practical tips there for bigger projects like this. What’s important is that the equipment has the right lifting capacity, because sometimes foundations require solid tools. And then there’s the servicing issue too – make sure you have a service center nearby that can handle repairs quickly, because on big construction sites downtime is super expensive. Also check whether you can rent additional attachments, like breaking hammers, because with bigger projects that often comes in handy.
