refund for a defective item from the seller
Summary: The discussion concerned the issue of getting a refund for a defective item from the seller, but it did not contain any additional information or details on the subject.
I bought several items from one seller, and one of them was defective.
After contacting the seller, he wrote asking me to provide my email address, and then he would refund that item via PayPal. The problem is that PayPal is trying to extort my data and has placed a restriction on my account. So I’m worried that PayPal will confiscate the money. Also, a refund to PayPal isn’t beneficial for me, because the money probably won’t go back to the card, only to the account balance. I paid from my EUR account through eBay and I would like to get the original amount, not the amount converted by PayPal.
Can’t the seller refund this amount to me through eBay, to the original payment method?
Leaving aside the fact that eBay blocks sharing email addresses in messages.

·3 years agoThe seller has the option to make a full or partial refund through eBay.
Exchanging contact details outside the eBay system is against their rules and they block it.
There is an option for this transaction in My eBay, you just have to expand the menu, it’s easily accessible and easy to find.
If there are problems, open a dispute for receiving an item not as described and explain what the issue is. This way the seller will have an easier time issuing a refund, but with eBay involved.
