Purchase as a guest and information from eBay about a blocked account
Summary: eweb71 initiated a discussion about making a purchase as a guest and receiving a notification from eBay regarding a blocked account. guangxi_hone responded, leading to further communication from eweb71 seeking additional clarification or resolution. The discussion focuses on understanding the implications of eBay's notification in the context of guest purchases.
Hello everyone. My daughter decided to buy a phone through e-bay in the USA with delivery to Spain (Tenerife - where she currently lives and works). She made the purchase as a guest and paid via Google Pay (from her Spanish account). She paid all additional fees required in the auction and received confirmation of this (almost 800 euros in total). The phone was shipped and has now been sitting for several weeks in e-bay's logistics center in the USA. In the meantime, two days after the payment was accepted, e-bay sent information about the account being blocked, (which she did not set up) and stated that her transaction posed a threat to the security of the e-bay community. Moreover, she is not entitled to a refund or to further tracking of the shipment. On top of that, they keep insisting that she is the seller and do not accept the explanation that she is the buyer. An attempt to contact official support on ebay.com (chat) and to find out the reasons for this situation ended with the summary that she should find another auction site. The emails sent, describing the course of the transaction, remain unanswered. It somewhat looks like e-bay stealing the money, but I am not assuming such a scenario. After all, it is a legitimate company. Is this an exceptional case? Is there any extra-legal way to get the money or the item back? Is there anyone there (at e-bay) who is capable of thinking, with whom one can talk and explain the matter? Please let me know what went wrong. Thank you in advance.

OP2 years agoUnfortunately, nothing can be sorted out. They send you to the help center by email, and that's where I started from. A total lack of willingness to cooperate in solving the problem. Is all that's left to report it to the police and get legal help?
