The seller is not refunding the money, no contact.

Good morning,
I have a problem getting the money back from the seller. I’ll start from the beginning: the package arrived, but it was damaged and the item itself was damaged too. I refused to accept it, and the courier took the package back to the car before I had a chance to take photos. The only proof that the package was damaged is my report to the shipping company. They prepared a report and photos of the damage, but only of the packaging itself. The package was returned to the seller in Japan. At first I was in contact with the seller, and he blamed me for not accepting it, because according to the seller the package was undamaged and supposedly the item was too. I would like him to pay me back for the shipping both ways $600. Initially I had no evidence to confirm my version. I wrote an email to the courier company and they replied, attaching a photo of the damaged cardboard box. I contacted Ebay, because there is a buyer protection program, but they rejected my claim and told me to contact the seller to resolve the matter. After writing another message to the seller I attached a photo of the damaged package, and that’s where the contact stops. The seller is not responding, and it has already been a week.
I’m starting to lose hope for an objective resolution of this matter, and I have the impression that Ebay itself does not really want to help injured parties. There is no mention of cases like mine. Maybe I acted wrongly and should have accepted the package, but at the time it seemed to me that refusing delivery would be better for me, with fewer problems related to a possible return of the package itself and a refund of the customs duty I paid.
At this moment I am out $1369, because that is how much the turntable I bought here on Ebay cost, and I am not in possession of it.
Please help the community with what I can do next so that there can be a happy ending.
Thank you,
Tomasz.

·1 year agoYou should have accepted the shipment and then opened a dispute that the item was not as described. The eBay system recognizes this sequence of events.
To assert your case, you need contact with an eBay employee.

OP1 year agoDear Sir with the nickname Zenolox, I asked for help, not for a comment from the seller, because as I have noticed, you are the seller.
First of all, if the item had been properly packaged, the turntable would not have been damaged (for example, new devices are packaged by manufacturers in such a way that in the event of claims to shipping companies about damage, there is no doubt whether it was properly packed). Through the cracked cardboard box, you could see the dented turntable base. The photo shows that there are no corner reinforcements under the cardboard, the only thing there was were 3 layers of bubble wrap, which were cut, so there was no protection at all for goods weighing 22 kg.
The equipment is meant to be on display, I didn't buy it to put it in the basement, so such damage is out of the question, not for that kind of money.
As for the $600, the matter is not simple; when I asked for documents confirming the shipping costs, the correspondence suddenly stopped, there is practically no contact with the guy. He probably isn't playing entirely fair.
At the moment he hasn't refunded me anything, so one could speak of the crime of fraud. It has been over a month since he received the shipment, and I have asked several times for him to return the money due to me.
I am writing to Ebay, but now it feels like I am writing to artificial intelligence, three emails one reply, no specifics. Ebay should intervene here as a mediator and see the case through to the end.
Everything points to the fact that this platform allows such actions.
How do I contact Ebay to get in touch with someone who can properly understand the case and does not operate according to some template - artificial intelligence.
Regards,
Tomasz.

·1 year agoYou panicked like a virgin before the first time. Your complaints are a jumble of contradictions. All the photo shows is that the cardboard split at the edge because another heavy object was placed on it - these are common "injuries" to packaging. The seller should have taped the edges of the parcel, but if he wrapped the turntable in bubble wrap, etc., then it should have been untouched. And that’s the crux of it - you didn’t take the contents out and didn’t test it! What do you expect? Polish eBay-ers are supposed to make a tribal collection to compensate you for the loss? If I were in that samurai’s shoes, I’d reach for a katana. Buying and selling valuable and complicated equipment online is a risky business. A cracked box is not a reason not to accept the shipment. Apologize to the Japanese man (he’ll now think Chopin’s countrymen are idiots) for creating a very uncomfortable situation, give him back those 600 bucks, and buy such toys for yourself in person at Polish audio consignment shops.
