Import fees for purchases in the United Kingdom
Hello. If I buy an item in the United Kingdom, do I have to pay the import fee upfront? That is, do I pay the item price + shipping cost + import fee, and only then is the item shipped? Or do I pay the import fee when I receive the parcel?

·2 years agoIt should say on the auction in the shipping costs section. Some sellers participate in global shipping, and then eBay charges import fees.
However, sometimes the auction doesn’t have that fee, so you’ll pay at the border, but not always, because customs officers don’t always check the package.
If you pay the fees on the auction and yet they charge you again at the border, then eBay will refund it after you provide proof of payment at the border
