How to get started on eBay
Summary: The topic of the discussion is starting to sell on eBay. However, the posts do not contain any specific content, which suggests that the conversation has not yet been developed.
Hello,
I’m assuming most people on Polish eBay also use Allegro.
I’d like to ask whether there are any buyer protections when shopping on eBay, what to watch out for, and how not to get scammed.
Generally, is there some kind of buyer protection program, and are auctions/offers covered by it somehow marked?
Or does it apply to all offers on eBay?
By the way, I’d like to list a few ads and I’m curious how it works so I don’t get scammed. I get discounts at the GSM goods store where I work, and I can sell these so-called slow-moving stock items, and I’m curious how to handle it so I sell and don’t lose money, e.g. if I sent something on eBay without confirmation 😛
Another question is whether offers sold not by companies but by private individuals are covered by any buyer/seller protection?
I’m asking in both contexts, because as a buyer I don’t know whether I can return something if it’s not right or without giving a reason?
On the other hand, as a seller, I want to avoid a situation where I send someone, for example, a sealed phone and they post a video on YouTube saying I supposedly sent them a brick (which of course won’t happen because I wasn’t raised that way, but I’d like to be sure that nobody simply scams me). On OLX I also noticed that the buyer protection program works only one-way, so I record the entire (ENTIRE) packing process, the box, address wrapping, etc. Space...
So once again... is there buyer and/or seller protection? How does it work? Is it like on OLX, where I send something and receive the money once the other side confirms that everything is okay, or is it handled differently?
Does the service rely on payment methods other than bank transfer, etc.?
Does the service offer any quick shipping options? And if so, does it also handle any parcel insurance for the sold amount, or do you have to arrange that yourself?
And totally off-topic... if I bought a phone in Poland with a mobile operator’s warranty, is that warranty only valid in Poland (supposedly they have the manufacturer’s warranty), or does it depend here on whether the given manufacturer (oppo, xiaomi, samsung) provides European or regional warranty service?
For now, sincere thanks for listening to my probably chaotic ramblings (for which I apologize and thank you).
Best regards!

·2 years agoHello to all the eBay folks, and I invite you to FB where you'll get help faster:

eBay provides one of the best buyer protections, which often hurts sellers, so as a seller, block users with negative, zero, or very low feedback, don't ship to high-risk countries, don't list anything you can't afford to lose, ship only to the address given on eBay and with tracked shipments, set your delivery time with a margin (the buyer can report non-delivery and get a full refund only after the delivery deadline has passed), keep an eye on your score so you can reach Top Rated Seller status as fast as possible or at least above average, because then you'll get access to promotional campaigns, which increases sales.
All auctions and all buyers are covered by protection. The exception is auctions for intangible items.
Recording the packing isn't taken into account, so save yourself the time.
Buyers can pay using whatever services they want, while sellers are fully handled financially by eBay and settlement takes place only by bank transfers, the frequency of which you set yourself.
The number of shipping methods can make your head spin. Every method is cheaper through eBay than directly with the carrier.Printing a shipping label or code automatically updates the shipping status in the transaction details.
Ask the manufacturer about the phone warranty.
Start with a private account. The first 250 listings are free of listing fees . On business accounts, on Polish eBay, that option doesn't exist.
Your username and password are valid on every eBay. To list, for example, on eBay. de you have to log in to it.
Good luck!

If we have ebay.pl does ebay.pl handle abroad too, or only PL ?
What’s it like with that ?
